Fatehpur Sikri

Mughal Emperor Akbar, desirous of a son, sought the Sufi mystic Sheikh Salim Chisti, who lived in Sikri, for his blessings. When a son was born, Akbar was so happy that he built a city called Fatehpur Sikri near the residence of the saint.The architecture of this city is a unique blend of the Hindu and the Muslim styles. The city is built in red 

sandstone. The Diwan-i-Am, Diwan-i-Khas, Jodha Bai's palace, Birbal's house, Mariam's house, the Panch Mahal and the Jama Masjid are all architectural marvels and major tourist attractions.
