Halebid

Once the wealthy capital of the Hoysalas, Halebid's main tourist attractions are the beautiful Jain shrines and the Hoysala temples. Notable among them is the Hoysaleswara Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. A sculptural extravaganza, this temple is covered with friezes depicting scenes narrated in Hindu epics.
