Indore
Indore derives its name from the 18th century Indreshwar temple. The city's beautiful landscape and salubrious climate make it an attractive tourist destination.
Planned and built by the Holkers - the
former rulers of this erstwhile state, Indore is today a vibrant mini metropolis and an
important business and industrial centre. It has also produced many cricketers including
the legendry C.K Naidu. Also of interest are several monuments associated with the
Holkers.
ACCESS
Indore is connected by air to Delhi, Mumbai, Gwalior and Bhopal and by rail to Ujjain, Bhopal, Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Cochin and Mhow. It is also well connected by road to Agra, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Ujjain and Bhopal.
PLACES OF INTEREST
Rajwada: A two century old seven storeyed historic palace which was the nerve centre of all trading activities. Kanch Mandir: A quaint Jain shrine or `Palace of Mirrors'. Lal Baug Palace: Once the ancestral palace of the rulers, today it is the residence of Usha Raje,the direct descendant of the Holkars. Chhatri Baug: Chhatris or Cenotaphs errected in memory of the Holker rulers and their family. Nehru Park: A children's park.

Kasturba Gram: (8 km) The Kasturba Gandhi Memorial Trust was founded by Mahatma Gandhi. Mhow: (22 km) An old British cantonment and Military Headquaters of War. Patal Pani: (36 km) Famous for its scenic waterfall. Dhar: (47 km) The capital of former Paramara Kings. Bawangaja: (175 km) An important Jain pligrim centre belonging to the 15th century.
