Kargil

The second town of Ladakh, Kargil is the main staging- point between Srinagar and Leh, and is the gateway to the Suru Valley and Zanskar. It sits by the Suru river just short of the Suru and Dras-shingo confluence, and is almost equidistant at just over 200 km from Leh and Srinagar.

ACCESS

Kargil is 204 km from Srinagar and 230 km from Leh. The J&K State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) runs regular bus services from Srinagar and Leh. All these buses use Kargil as a night halt.

EXCURSION

Suru Valley - The towering Nun and Kun massifs at the farthest end overlook this fertile valley which is noteworthy for its scenic beauty.
