Kaziranga National Park

The Kaziranga National Park lies partly in the golaghat District and partly in the Naogaon District of Assam. Spreading over an area of 430 sq km, the Park is the natural habitat of the Great Indian one-horned rhinocerous. Apart from this it houses elephants, Indian bison, swamp deer, leopard cat, jungle cat, hog badger, capped langur, Hoolock  gibbon, jackal, goose,hornbills, ibis,cormorants,

egret, heron fishing eagle and a number of migratory birds that can be sighted in winters.

ACCESS

Kaziranga is about 215 km from Guwahati and 96 km from Jorhat by road. The nearest railhead is Furkating.

ACCOMMODATION

There are tourist lodges in Kaziranga and some better hotel accommodation in Guwahati.
