Kinnaur is a strikingly beautiful scenic spot with two large rivers - the Sutlej and the Spiti - racing through it. The place is full of fast flowing streams and picturesque hamlets. Two of the world's great mountain ranges - the Zanskar and the Greater Himalaya - are also in Kinnaur. It is also home to some of India's oldest legends, and the religion of its people is a remarkable mix of Hinduism and Buddhism. Nichar (2150 mts), Baspa valley (79 km from Nichar), Recong Peo (Kinnaur's district headquarters), Kalpa etc. are some of the places of tourist interest.
