Mangalore

Beautiful beaches, narrow winding streets, temple, churches, lofty coconut trees, quaint houses... Mangalore has them all. This coastal town which lies 357 kms west is a major commercial centre and also an important port. A trip to Mangalore would be incomplete without witnessing a Yakshagana performance-an elaborate dance form unique to Karnataka and Kambala, a buffalo race.

Mangalore is connected by air, road and rail to Bangalore and Mumbai.

10th century Manjunatha Temple, St. Aloysius chapel, Mangala Devi Temple, Tipu's Battery, Jumma Masjid and Ullal beach.

EXCURSIONS

Pilikula Nisarga Dhama (11 kms) is an integrated tourist destination. Moodabidri (35 kms) is famous for its 1000-pillared Jain shrine. Karkala (52 kms) known for the 452 ft tall monolithic statue of Bahubali and St. Lawrence Church. Varanga is an important Jain pilgrim centre, (40 kms). The fort here was built by Tipu Sultan and named after his mother. Malpe Beach (60 kms). Dharmastala (75 kms) is an example of communal harmony. Every person is welcomed and given a free meal.
