Srirangapatnam

Sixteen km from Mysore is Srirangapatnam, the island fortress of Tipu Sultan in the middle of the river Cauvery. The summer palaces known for their beautiful paintings and galleries are worth visiting. Other tourist attractions include the tomb of the "Tiger of Mysore" Tipu Sultan, the tomb of Hyder Ali at Gumbaz, the Darya Daulat Singh gardens, the Ranganath temple and the Wellesley Bridge.
