Valley of Flowers

The valley is located about 40 km from Badrinath, the last 16 km of which have to be trekked. With an area of about 87.5 sq. km, the valley has the largest concentration of wild flower species and is a riot of colours during the peak season which is from mid-July to mid-August.



The fauna of this national park includes the snow-leopard, brown and black bears, musk deer, bharal and the thar. The UP government provides accommodation at the rest house in Ghangharia and Govindghat.

Hemkund Sahib : Close to the Valley of Flowers is the holy lake Hemk- und. Associated with Guru Gobind Singh, it is a peaceful lake set amidst picturesque surroundings and the snow-capped Himalayas.
