Badrinath

Badrinath is 343 km from Dehradun. Alaknanda, one of the constituents of the Ganga, forges its way down the steep rocky Himalayas. During its descent, it changes from a gorge onto a wide shelf. At the end of this shelf, which is banked on either side by wild flowers, Badrinath is located.
It is said that Lord Vishnu chose this place as his abode. Ever since, people from all walks of life thronged to Badrinath to be blessed by Lord Vishnu. The shrine is open to pilgrims during the yatra season i.e. from May to November.The temple of Shri Badrinathji, Mata Murti Temple and the Urvashi temple are Badrinath's main attractions.

Badrinath also has three natural thermal springs on the banks of the Alaknanda.

ACCESS

Nearest airport is Jolly Grant (Dehradun) 315 km away and the nearest railheads are Rishikesh (297 km) and Koldwara (327 km). The route up to Badrinath is totally motorable.
