Bangalore

Bangalore, the city of gardens, is a quietly bustling city lined by  trees and interspersed with wide streets and lanes. The city, founded in 1537 by Kempe Gowda, and situated at a height of 1914 meters, is the present capital of Karnataka. Spacious parks, gardens and lawns, and wide sprawling buildings like the Vidhan Sabha lend it an air of regality.

Bangalore, which has a salubrious climate all round the year, was a summer retreat for the British Raj, an escape from the low-lying hot regions. During spring the city becomes a riot of colours with the blossoming of gulmohars and jacarandas.

Now a busy commercial and industrial centre, in addition to being the state capital, Bangalore has a lot to offer to business travellers as well. Many industrial units manufacturing such diverse items as aircraft, telephones, pharmaceuticals, textiles, electronic goods and machine tools have come up in recent years. Nevertheless, Bangalore continues to retain its essential garden city ambience.
