Haridwar |

Fifty two km from Dehradun, called by many names ranging from Kapilasthan and Gangadwar to Tapovan, Haridwar is probably the holiest of cities which stand on the banks of the sacred Ganga river. It is at this point that the Ganga emerges from the Himalayas into the northern plains. |

evening aarti performed at Har-Ki-Pauri, the most sacred bathing ghat in Haridwar, is
worth attending. The famous Kumbha festival which is celebrated with pomp and show also
has its site here. The Bhimgoda Tank and the Gurukul Kangri University with its Ved Mandir
Museum are worth seeing. The Mausa Devi Temple, Bharat Matha Mandir and Pawan Dham are
just a few of the temples and ashrams that dot the city. ACCESS Haridwar is well connected by rail and good motorable roads from Delhi and other neighbouring towns.
