Kanpur

Situated on the banks of Ganga, Kanpur is one of the largest industrial cities of Uttar Pardesh. It was the headquarters of a large Indian garrison during the war of 1857 and still bears landmarks of the British Raj. Apart from its leather industry, a large number of textile, plastic and other industrial are located in Kanpur, also known as the `Manchester of the East'.

ACCESS

Chakeri Airport is 13 Kms from the city centre. Apart from this the nearest airport is in Lucknow, 65 kms away.

Kanpur is connected to all the major cities of the country including Delhi, Calcutta, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Lucknow by express and superfast trains.

Kanpur is situated on the National Highway No. 2 on  the    Delhi-Agra-Allahabad - Calcutta route and National Highway No 25 on the Lucknow-Jhansi-Shivpuri route. EXCURSIONS

Bithoor (22 Kms)- Situated on the banks of Ganga, this secluded, tranquil place is full of religious and historical significance, and associated with ancient mythology. It is believed that after the destruction of the Universe, Bithoor was chosen by Lord Brahma as his abode. It is also believed to be the birthplace of Lord Rama's twin sons, Luv and Kush. More recently, Bithoor was associated with Rani Laxmi Bai of Jhansi and Nana Saheb Peshwa, who spent their childhood in Bithoor.

Kannauj (80 km)-was the 7th century capital of KIng Harshavardhan whose empire encompassed the entire region between the rivers Sutlej and Narmada. Kannauj is known for manufacturing essence (ittar), used in perfumes. Bhitargaon (59 km)-is noted for a unique architectural specimen-a brick temple belonging to the Gupta period.
