Khirsu
One place to relax amidstre- freshing greenery, and away from the pollution and stress of a city, is Khirsu. Khirsu has an altitude of 1700 m, and the vegetation includes deodar and oak forests, in addition to apple orchards.
ACCESS
It is well connected by road, though the nearest railhead is Kotdwar, over a hundred km
away. The nearest airport, Jolly Grant, is almost 150 km away.
EXCURSIONS
Pauri, 19 km distant at an elevation of 1814 metres provides a stunning view of the Himalayan peaks Sumera, Nilkanth, Haathiparbat and Trishul, among others. Dewalgarh is about 20 km from Khirsu, and is famous for the temples of goddess Raj Rajeshwari. Another possible excursion is Dhana Devi on the banks of the Alaknanda river, on the Srinath-Badrinath highway, 48 km from Khirsu.
