Kutch

Kutch is a fascinating land, and because of its comparative remoteness has remained so for centuries. It lies between the Sir river, the Sir Creek and the Great Rann of Kutch on the north-west side and Gulf of Kutch on the east, making it infact a peninsula. the region is somewhat bare except for some cultivation near villages.

Kutch produces some of Gujarat's most exquisite handicrafts like embroidery, tie `n' dye fabrics and enamelled silverware. The Great and the Little Rann of Kutch are the breeding ground for flamingoes, pelicans, and avocet. Apart from this, this region is also the home of the rare Indian chestnut brown ass called the Asiatic onager.

The Rann of Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary is also rich in a variety of fauna. It has the jungle cat, houbara bustard, blue bull, wolf, jackal, gazelle, and desert and Indian foxes.
