Manali
An even more picturesque spot than Kulu is Manali, 1,926 metres high in the mountains. Hiking, trekking and skiing are its most popular winter sports. Small villages, deep valleys, high thickly-wooded mountains and the Beas gurgling by. This is Manali. Its breathtaking beauty, its delightful walks and foot-trodden paths are
enchanting in themselves. Manali has a 600-year old wooden temple set in its wilderness, among the tall cedars. An old temple at Vashist (3 km) has exquisitely carved panels, depicting Hindu gods and goddesses. Vashist is also famous for hot sulphur springs.
ACCESS
The nearest airport is at Bhuntar, 50 km away, from where one can take a bus/taxi. Buses connect Manali to Chandigarh (312 km), Shimla (247 km), Dharamsala (253 km).

Hadimba Devi Temple, Vashist Baths, Old Manali Village, Arjun Gupha, Jagatsukh (6 km) -- famous for very old temples, Tibetan Monastery.
EXCURSIONS
Rohtang Pass (51 km) for a panoramic view of the mountain ranges, Kothi (12 km) -- also a picturesque spot.
