Nasik
Situated on the banks of the Godavari, Nasik is the place where Lord Rama is said to have stayed during his exile and also where Lakshman, Rama's younger brother, cuts off the nose of the denom king Ravana's sister Shurpanakha who was harassing Rama. Nasik is an industrial town now.
PLACES OF INTEREST
Panchavati, where Sita is said to have been kidnapped by Ravana. Tapovan, about 3 km , is a picturesque spot and has a close association with the epic Ramayana. Someswar Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva . Pandav Leni (Bhuddist caves) 6 km Chambar Leni, 6 km, Jain caves belonging to the fourth century.

Nasik is well connected by rail and road. The nearest airport is Mumbai, 185 kms away.
EXCURSIONS
Trimbakeshwar(36 km) has one of the 12 jyotirlingas in the country. Brahmagiri close by where the river
Godavari originates. Ahilya dam (half km) - has temples dedicated to BhubaneswariDevi and Brahma Savitri; Anjani Parvat (7 km) said to be the place where the monkey god Hanuman was born; Harihr Fort, 10 km, a great draw for hikers. Vaitarnadam, 15 km away supplies water to Mumbai city.
